CSF MARKERS ARE A PREDICTION OF AD

editorial comment
Although cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) examination is not routinely performed in Canada for the assessment of dementia, there is building evidence for the ability of certain markers to predict AD in older adults with (Simonsen et al) or without symptoms (Fagan et al ). There will be publications later this year calling for an update of the diagnostic criteria for AD to include the pre-dementia stage, using brain imaging and CSF findings as supportive evidence. We may need to use our needles!
