ATHEROSCLEROSIS AND DEMENTIA RISK

editorial comment
Many epidemiological studies are confirming the relationship between atherosclerosis (van Oijen et al ) and related risk factors such as the metabolic syndrome (Razay et al ) and dementia and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The upside of these observations is the potential for primary prevention (Willcox et al ). The VASCOG Congress in San Antonio mid-July will explore these relationships and treatment strategies (www.vas-cog.org/vas-cog2007).
