The Consortium on Dementia with Lewy Bodies
(DLB) has published its third report (McKeith et al),
based on the discussions that took place in Newcastle upon Tyne
in September 2003. Of note is the inclusion of Parkinson Disease
Dementia in the document, allowing for academic-driven criteria
for diagnosis and management of these overlapping conditions.

TREATMENT OF SLEEP APNEA
One of the medical conditions often found
in middle-age persons with mild cognitive impairment is obstructive
sleep apnea. Many such individuals are referred to sleep labs.
A study by a leader in the field of sleep disorders described
results in the management of sleep apnea, principally using continuous
positive airway pressure (CPAP; Guilleminault et al ). Interested
readers can find additional information in an editorial by D.
Gottlieb (N Engl J Med 2005;353:2604-2606) in regard to
the use of atrial overdrive pacing. Is obstructive sleep apnea
syndrome a neurological disorder?
