Severe AD is most often managed in nursing
home settings. The usefulness and safety of antipsychotic drugs
have been increasingly questioned (see previous issues of International
Abstracts in Alzheimers Disease & Other Dementias).
A report from Fossey et al demonsrates that person-centred care
reduces the need for psychotropic drugs. This is in line with
findings by Landreville et al for reduction of aggressive behaviour
using non-pharmacological interventions.
